Why does my cat love to rub, give affection and play with my flip flops?

I have a cat that I recently adopted off the streets. Every time I leave my flip flops in her designated area she loves to rub, lay, play, give affection and wrap herself in my flip flops. Its not any other item that she does this too. Can anyone explain this crazy behavior to me?

Why does my cat love to rub, give affection and play with my flip flops?
your smell is on them and because of this she is loving on you, not your shoes. cats have secretion glands in that area around where her whiskers are so by rubbing her face and whiskers on your shoes she is leaving her scent on them and its her way of telling other animals( especially other cats),"shes all mine, she belongs to me and me only".
Reply:When she rubs up against them, just like when she rubs up against you, she is actually using glands placed in areas around the head and neck (I think, I can't remember their exact locations) to mark you with her scent to claim you (and apparently, your shoes) as hers. It just means that she loves you.

As for, why the shoes and not other things? Well. I think that just falls into the category of the unknowable logic of cats!
Reply:She smells your scent and is marking it with hers...

Cats do the same thing when they rub on your leg.
Reply:cats like to play - perfectly normal
Reply:Cats love to give affection but on thier terms only. I think there is a scent in your flip flops she loves. My cat for instace loves this one sweater I have and if I leave it out she goes crazy with it. They are odd creatures but we love em!
Reply:My parents are divorced, and they both have cats. Whenever I visit one or the other, the cats are ALL OVER my flip-flops. It could be that they like the smell of rubber...but I think they can smell eachother. Maybe if you come into contact with other cats...your cat can smell it. or again maybe it's the rubber. (:
