Flip Flops are definately hot. They are comfortable and versatile. They look good with Jeans, Shorts, or anything summer-ish =) Sandals are nice too but they are a little more dressy... It depends on the style though...

Reply:It depends on the event. As seen in the news last summer, it would not be appropriate to wear flip flops to a visit with the president.

Additionally, flip flops with your ball gown wouldn't really work.

Otherwise, I love 'em, and it's all I wear in the summer, whenever I'm not at work.

And the feet defenitely need to be clean and not dirty, otherwise it looks unattractive, in my opinion, and pretty much the same goes with sandals...but make sure u wear them good and that the season/weather is approiate too, other wise you might look funny!!

If it is supposed to be a professional setting then absolutely not. If people look like slobs then they work like slobs. Who will get promoted, the person that looks like they should be at the beach everyday or the person dressed up? Presentation does matter even though you probably think that this is some great injustice that has been bestowed upon you.

Reply:Hell no, flip flops are flip flops. Flat or high heeled, they're inappropriate for the office. Please, don't get fired because even some of the most laidback jobs have a dress code policy specifically stating no flipflops. Well, only unless you work at Walmart, then you can get away with them.

I am all about comfort, so I wear them all the time. I am a Realtor. I can do a lot of my business in flip flops -- dropping off contracts, showing houses, etc., but I would never show up to a closing like that!

Reply:I think this is a bad idea.Flip Flops are not good for any kind of work. I agree comfort is a welcome asset for your feet but you should always have something that is secure to your whole foot. This will help with not losing your shoe when going up or down stairs r even twisting your ankle. I think that most employers would tell you that flip flops are not allowed due to compensation and company insurance policies.

Reply:I would say it would have to depend on the place you work? Obviously, you don't want to wear flip-flops if you are a zoo keeper or dental assistant. If you work in an office setting, you would want to maintain a professional appearance so even the nice flip flops probably wouldn't go with a blazer. If the setting is laid back, casual and safe, then flip flops should be fine. I know that living in the southwest where it commonly gets up to 115, flip flops are near standard for everyone.

they are really comfy, ive never fallen, and i can run in them but theyre not the most comfortable things to run in spesh on hard surfaces cause your heels can slip out the side and hit the ground if that makes sense....

ive never fallen, and i can sort of run in them but not too fast, i usually just take my flip flops off and run if im chasing something in the grass or something soft, but not on the street. for me the most comfortable flip flops are rainbows!! =]
Reply:I've never fallen in them, and I can actually run in them for some reason. You just have to get the right kind of flip-flop. The rubber ones from abercrombie and hollister are my favorite, but they're slippery. I can always run in the cheap ones from Old Navy =]

It used to be that only people in tropical climates wore them all the time. Otherwise, you only saw them at the pool, beach or shower. Now they're everywhere! At work, at play, at dances! I have a pair because they are handy, I think they're ok for wearing occasionally and at the right times, like at the beach, the pool or on really hot days. They look ok on guys but usually only the black or brown ones. I don't think they look very stylish though, they are extremely casual. I hate the way they're everywhere now, EVERYBODY here (Australia) seems to have a pair of Havaianas thongs, and they wear them all the time - even through winter. What the? I need two pairs of socks and some boots to keep my feet cosy in winter and these people are getting around in thongs? For god's sake people get yourselves some real shoes, they are better for your feet, more stylish and can be just as comfortable.

But I make sure I buy pretty and unique ones and I get them mostly overseas becuase I hate to wear something everyone else is wearing.

The majority of them are bad for your feet, to wear all the time that is, not only that, if you try to do something cute, like seeing some kids playing football in the street and you decide to be Mr. wide receiver, sprained my ankle, couldn't walk for a week. Now I buy a brand that they sell in the canteen at the VA hospital, their made by a Japanese company, with a name I can't pronounce(Okabashi) Home and garden clogs, they cost about $10.00,have a real good arch, sturdy,they have these little nubs inside, they come in two(2) styles, open and closed toe.I'm hooked, I wear them more than shoes.LATER
Reply:Flip flops are fine and I wear them at home, but when I see students wearing them where I work (at a college) it makes me cringe. There are perfectly good, comfortable, casual enclosed shoes you can wear without resorting to looking like a misplaced tourist in my opinion. As for guys wearing them, that's fine, too, just make sure your feet are well taken care of (crusty feet+flip flops=ICK!) and that goes for the ladies, too (chipped toenail polish is not attractive).

I have started breaking my feet in to my heel again so that I am not under dressed for the winter. I live in New England, so I can only wear them during the summer. They are nice when your school doesn't have air conditioning and your classroom is right above the kitchen when lunch is being served. And on the beach.

Flip flops are great for random walks around the neighborhood, beaches, and for school, if they let you. In high school, which is next year for me, I can finally wear flip flops to school. Yay!

Even if you DO lower your limit to 25, that's still ridiculous!!! Go to Old Navy and get a pair of flip flops for like $3. Then you can buy a lot of pairs to match with all your outfits.

I have 2 pairs of flip flops that look a lot like the ones you linked the pictures to; one was $4 at a avenue store and the other was $8 at Payless. And even $8 flip flops are expensive.

Please don't spend that much money on flip flops. Pleeeeeeeeease!!

Flip flops or barefeet?

Since I have moved to America, I often remain barefeeted out of the force of the habit. Even now that I make enough money for many large shoes, I forego them for the most part. Of course, many establishments require one's feet to be shod, and so I will wear my wonderful leather sandals when I go into the city, but I very much prefer barefeetedness. In the wintertime, however, I must wear socks with my sandals, due to the cold.

Also it is improper to show your toes. it is just nasty covering your toes is for the benefit of the people who have to look at you, save that for some slinky classy high heels when you get all dressed up and have your toes done.

Reply:In Singapore, flip flops is like a nation wide phenomenem.

It is our national foot wear. Due to our hot weather and all year long sunshine, the least thing that we want is to have our feet perspire. Flip flops is the asnwer. i love it.

Though, it is only for a more casual day out, i would not suggest wearing flip flops to every occasion as people will deem you as being a slacker. ;]

If you want to look like a professional, then pumps it is. They can be classy, or sexy. The height of the heel determines that. :)

Or, if you want to look like you came from the beach, then flip-flops.

Just remember, if you're going to wear any footwear that is open-toed, make sure your toenails are nicely done.

Reply:I don't see how if you're sitting at your desk that flip flops would be an issue. I have never once had a customer ask what shoes I had on in order to provide customer service.

Other open toe shoes seem to be fine. Not sure what it is about a piece going BETWEEN two toes that makes it so much more "unprofessional" than ones with a band over your foot?

There's tons of women - and some guys (like myself) who have their shoes off under their desk all the time. What's the difference between a flip flop - and a sandal with two thin straps across your foot that you have off when you stand or sit.

When I get promoted, I want to have a rule that states "All noisy shoes must be removed or you go home". This would include heels that clack just as loud as flip flops. I'd rather someone be barefoot than listen to "Clack CLACK Clack CLACK" every time someone walks past me.

I want to wear it to school tomarrow, so i need some ideas! please help!!

What flip flops should i wear with a gray tank top with rindestones (from Express) I have no gray flip flops!?
match the colour to your trousers/skirt or failing that wear some accessories in a matching colour ie, pink necklace and pink flip flops and wear pink nail varnish.

Reply:Black or white both go with gray. It depends on what colour of bottoms you're wearing as well, but really, either black or white would go. If you have a cute pair of pink, that would be great too b/c pink and gray look sharp together.
