Flip flops in winter?

It's winter, it's cold, and my little sister and some her friends wear flips flops (no socks) all the time. Is that common now among young teens?

last year i wore flip flops year round. this year i got a pair of extrememly cute tennis shoes, so i don't wear flips flops as much.


and not to mention we have 10 inches of snow on the ground, which we didn't have last year.
Reply:It is SO common. All the kids at University are doing it. I am older than average college age and my feet freeze for them!

Reply:Yes it is very common, I see girls with flip flops this time of the year everyday everywhere. Flip flops have become the universal footwear for all seasons. Although in my opinion, there comes a point where it would be too cold to wear them and that depends on each person. I mean, some women wear high heels all the time, now that'll ruin your feet. If your sister and friends don't mind the cold then I don't see a problem. and socks are a no-no with flips flops. Flip flops are just so comfy and convenient and they look cute too, especially if keep your feet pretty.

Reply:Young teens don't know what is best for them. I can't believe your parents are allowing this. Not only can she get sick, but she could actually get frost bite and if it is severe enough, they have to remove (surgically amputate) the affected area.


Since your the sensible one here, you need to talk some sense into your little sister, and maybe your parents too.
Reply:I love flip flops, they are so comfortable, if I am going out just for a little bit, or just over to visit a close friend, Yes I will wear them...But, if it is real cold and my feet will be exposed for a longer period of time, i would put regular shoes on, it is only common sense......

Reply:I think it is common, but it's also stupid. I agree with you, it's winter for god's sake. And with all the cute boots out there, why bother with flip flops. I love flip flops, but I love them because they remind me of summer and if you wore them all the time, it would defeat that mystique about them. Boots - winter. Flip Flops - summer.
