Flip Flops? Or thong foot wear. Do you like the fashion trend of them?

It used to be that only people in tropical climates wore them all the time. Otherwise, you only saw them at the pool, beach or shower. Now they're everywhere! At work, at play, at dances! Pediotricians say they bad for your feet. Do you wear them everywhere? Do you think they're fashionable? Or not? Are they masculine on guys? Do they represent sloviness? Let me know. 10 pts for best answer.

I have a pair because they are handy, I think they're ok for wearing occasionally and at the right times, like at the beach, the pool or on really hot days. They look ok on guys but usually only the black or brown ones. I don't think they look very stylish though, they are extremely casual. I hate the way they're everywhere now, EVERYBODY here (Australia) seems to have a pair of Havaianas thongs, and they wear them all the time - even through winter. What the? I need two pairs of socks and some boots to keep my feet cosy in winter and these people are getting around in thongs? For god's sake people get yourselves some real shoes, they are better for your feet, more stylish and can be just as comfortable.
Reply:i were flip flops at home and at school they are so fashionable and they are so comfortable. What i love about them is that you can buy diffrent colors to go with your outfit
Reply:I'm from a tropical country, so I'm used to wearing those. I do think they are fashionable. I wear them everyday here in Houston.

But I make sure I buy pretty and unique ones and I get them mostly overseas becuase I hate to wear something everyone else is wearing.

I wouldn't say they are not masculine on guys. In contrest, I think they look rather good on guys. But still, you have to choose a pair that suits you, your outfit, and everything, you know.
Reply:I LOVE flip flops. and wear them all summer. But would never wear them to work, school, etc. they are for recreational activities only or relaxing at home. Guys are fine in Flips.
Reply:I LOVE FLIP FLOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though i dont think they are very masculine(no offense, if you like them thats all that matters);)
Reply:i love flip flops and wear them everywear because when i need to go, i can just slip them on and go out the door.
Reply:yes they are very confrable and dont hurt ur feet like heels do!! i hope they always stay in fashion and they make more pretty stlyes
Reply:Personally.....I like them. The majority of them are bad for your feet, to wear all the time that is, not only that, if you try to do something cute, like seeing some kids playing football in the street and you decide to be Mr. wide receiver, sprained my ankle, couldn't walk for a week. Now I buy a brand that they sell in the canteen at the VA hospital, their made by a Japanese company, with a name I can't pronounce(Okabashi) Home and garden clogs, they cost about $10.00,have a real good arch, sturdy, they have these little nubs inside, they come in two(2) styles, open and closed toe.I'm hooked, I wear them more than shoes.LATER
Reply:Flip flops are fine and I wear them at home, but when I see students wearing them where I work (at a college) it makes me cringe. There are perfectly good, comfortable, casual enclosed shoes you can wear without resorting to looking like a misplaced tourist in my opinion. As for guys wearing them, that's fine, too, just make sure your feet are well taken care of (crusty feet+flip flops=ICK!) and that goes for the ladies, too (chipped toenail polish is not attractive).
Reply:So do you mean children's doctors (Pediatricians) or foot doctors (Podiatrist) or just a combination of the two. Do Pediotricians look at children's feet? Sorry about that...

But I love flip-flops! They're great!
Reply:I love flip flops! They are so easy to wear. I wear them everywhere because there are such different styles. There are masculine flip flops that look good on guys.
Reply:I think flip flops will never go out of style. I wear them, and of course theyre everywhere! theyre easy to put on, cheap and they come in almost every color! Yeah they can be masculine, but i think it looks super queer when guys match the color of their flip flops with the color of their shirts. they should just wear those brown ones or black ones.
Reply:I think flip-flops look very feminine on males...... Good grief! Don't dance in them! If you dance like I do, you'll twist your ankle!

Hey, if my husband caught me wearing these things he'd cover his eyes until I took them off. He HATES flip flops....I do have a very huge big-toe though. Maybe if my feet were prettier.

And back in my day we DID call them THONGS- I wouldn't anymore.

Get rid of the THONG and bring back the Birkinstock look. Much better.
Reply:I have a tough time thinking flip flops make guys look masculine outside of the beach. Imagine if they have to run to save a damsel in distress. Or run in to a burning house to save a puppy? I do know this though, that's all the Viet Cong wore.
Reply:I think that that are bad for your feet. I have worn them all summer and not my feet are so uncomfortable in real shoes. I have started breaking my feet in to my heel again so that I am not under dressed for the winter. They have not very sexy on guys outside of the beach, but I do not think that they represent sloviness. Right now they are popular.
Reply:You sound like my old chorus teacher! He used to tell us about how he was singing in an opera and this lady came out, wearing this beautiful, floor length gown and then-- flip flops.

I don't know if they are bad for your feet, but to get shoes that are good for your feet, you have to have them specially designed and stuff.

I live in New England, so I can only wear them during the summer. They are nice when your school doesn't have air conditioning and your classroom is right above the kitchen when lunch is being served. And on the beach.

I think that they can be fashionable, it depends on how you wear them. They can be masculine on guys I think.

I don't know what 'sloviness' means.

I did wear a pair to prom, though I dressed them up and added a strap. That was the only thing I could do because the guy was shorter tham me!
