I'm not necessarily a supporter of Romney (actually a registered Democrat), but most of the things people allege he has flip-flopped on I don't think he has. Most of the time he has changed his position, or possibly evolved, which is much different than flip-flopping (which means going back and forth). I know I've certainly evolved over the last 10 years politically.
I don't think he has flip-flopped on abortion, gay rights, immigration, or anything else, but would certainly be open to some evidence that he has. Please provide supporting links so I can check it out. Thanks.
Where are Mitt Romney's flip-flops?
He's "flipped" on many fundamental stances for the upcoming election. The "flop" will come if and when he's elected.....I'll pass.
Reply:The truth is, when Romney ran for office in Massachusetts he went far beyond saying, "I support the current law."
He begged voters to accept him as an embracer of abortion rights. "I believe that abortion should be safe and legal,"
MITT ROMNEY is now determined to prove he's pro-life.
He is a political opportunist willing to take one side of a life and death issue when seeking liberal votes and quite willing to take the other side of the same issue when seeking conservative votes

Mitt’s Middle East Meltdown: Mitt Romney responded to critics blasting his “superficial” knowledge of the war in Iraq and his failure to offer any real plan. According to the Associated Press, “Romney noted that the U.S. has bases in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar, and said: ‘We can have a presence in the region, but I think that at this time we need to exercise care not to communicate to insurgents something that they can use to say 'Ah ha! America does intend to be an occupier forever!’” [Associated Press, 6/7/07] Romney apparently forgot that President Bush withdrew virtually all U.S. troops and closed all U.S. bases in Saudi Arabia in 2003, a gaffe that highlights his lack of the foreign policy knowledge and experience. [Foxnews.com, 4/29/03]
Mitt’s Social Security Snafu: The New Hampshire Union Leader quoted Romney outlining his plan for Social Security: he embraces President Bush’s plan to privatize the program and would consider “changing the retirement age,” and “basing the Social Security cost of living adjustment on a different inflation gauge." [Union Leader, 6/7/07] Not only do large majorities of the American people oppose proposals to cut benefits by raising the retirement age and implementing modified price indexing, so did Mitt Romney when he ran in Massachusetts. The old Mitt said, “I don't think you go back and rewrite the contract the government has with people who've retired." [Politico, 2/7/2007; Boston Globe, 10/17/94]
Reply:This is a question of interpretation. What you see as evolution of ideas others see as opportunism. Some view anything other then steadfast consistency in position as flip-flopping.
So, I wouldn't hold my breath for the evidence you seak, it's all just a matter of point of view.
Reply:I believe Romney is very much an opportunist. He was a terrible governor in MA. Deval Patrick has been so far a dream.
I included some links for you.
I think it's fine for candidates to change their views but not on fundamental issues like abortion. He ran as pro-choice in MA and voted against legislation protecting abortion. He lied to MA voters and I would never have voted for him if he had said he was pro-life. I am not going to vote Republican again. I have seen the errors in my way. We need a stronger government that represents people and not corporations.
The democrats aren't always better but the republicans are almost always worse.
