I personally like the security of strap ons as you can still get around like you would in a shoe and not have the fear of tripping. I only use flip flops occasionally to fit in with the trend.
Guys if you wear sandals, do you prefer flip flops or the sports type that strap on?
I prefer Sport sandals that way they stay put on my feet, and no fear of them slipping off.

Reply:This is my girlfriends account.....For me, I tend to wear more flip flops because they are very comfortable and generally go with anything. The strap on sandals are reserved for more of a hiking atmosphere or somewhere where you would need more support in keeping your sandals on. Also most older men tend to wear strap on sandals.
