What will make swarovski crystals bond to flip flops for a craft project?

Its' a craft project for kids, I've ried using a glue gun and something called crazy glue but they don't seem to be keeping the crystals on the flip flops.

What will make swarovski crystals bond to flip flops for a craft project?
Ballroom dancers who stone their own gowns use a glue put out by the sellers of the stones. Also try Beacon brand 'Gem-Tac' permanent adhesive. Also 'Goop'. There is another, available at Walmart, that comes in a metal tube in the craft section called '529' or some three numbers-I can never remember the numbers.

The adhesives that will work are not instant stick. They are cements that take at least 24 hours to be permanent.
Reply:You need a special glue made by Beacon. It's called GEM TAC and it is made especially for bonding gems, rhinestones, pearls, and mirrors to vinyls, leather, metal and glass.

I got mine at the bead store.
Reply:I use dimensional paints (scribbles from Michaels) to attach them to painted canvas. I then seal them with a gloss or matt varnish and wipe off the top of the crystal to restore it's shine. I think the dimensional paints might retain the flexibility needed for flip flops, and the sealer will keep them from falling off. Also, the dimensional paints would add a little more flair. It sounds like a really fun project. I love swarovski crystals, aren't they divine?
Reply:Also try scoring where you will put the glue so the crystals hold better! For kids, this might get pricey. another idea is to glue them to Fancy ribbon and then glue the ribbon to the flip flops!
Reply:why use crystals for such a thing

no wonder they won't stick...they're protesting
Reply:try some silicone-based glue, like the stuff you use in the bathroom to make things water-tight.
