Have you ever had to take your flip flops off at an amusement park before going on certain rides?

What did you do with them (leave them with someone, leave them at the ride entrance, sit on them, stow them in a compartment next to your seat)?

I am planning on going to the amusement park next week and I want to wear flip flops. I don't mind having to take them off, but I don't want to loose them as they are really good ones.

Have you ever had to take your flip flops off at an amusement park before going on certain rides?
I worked on amusement rides for 6 years, and very rarely had anyone complain about something getting stolen or lost from where they set their stuff on the dock to ride. But keep in mind, the operators and the park cannot be held responsible for your stuff. The operators are there to operate the ride, not babysit your belongings, no matter how much you treasure them. We literally see thousands of people day in and day out and it's not possible to keep track of what belonged to who, what train they were on, etc.

Suggestions? First I would suggest taking a cheaper pair, one that you wouldn't mind losing. If you must wear this pair, you can take them off and hold on to them while you ride; I've seen this done many times. I've also seen people "sit" on them by placing them between their backs and the seat back, though I imagine that's more ideal for the flatter flip-flops. You can wear them too if they are tight enough and you're good at flexing your toes to keep them secure, but there are some parks and/or some rides where you are required to take them off, so just ask an operator if you're unsure.

Leaving them on the dock is the safest route. I doubt they would get stolen, simply because anyone else who takes their shoes off will be picking up their own pair, and plus someone looking to steal some shoes would have to get the proper size.

If they get lost, there are shops in every park that sell shoes, so you won't be made to go barefoot as you are required to wear shoes in most parks.
Reply:Don't wear flip flops, wear sandles with straps.
Reply:it is HASSLE to wear flip flops to an amusement park, especially if they have rides that don't have an area for the feet (you are hanging in the air while the ride is going)! i highly highly recommend wearing regular shoes, or even sandals with straps if you want to show off a pedicure or something!
Reply:Guys who wear flip-flops are gay. Wear sneakers with socks.
Reply:I went on a ride at Marine Land called the Sky Screamer last summer. They had a box to put your belongings in around the outside of the ride. I should have known this was not a good sign. It was the scariest ride I have ever been on in my life!
Reply:There's usually a place to put them. There are often trash can looking recepticles or small cubbies where people are encouraged to leave purses (I never do though), loose shoes, cameras, etc.

There's always a place to put stuff like that. If you don't find any cubbies, just ask one of the ride attendants if you can put them by their chair or something ...

Have fun.
Reply:I don't go on any amsement park rides due to a queezy stomach, but when I use an amusement park attraction (such as a jumping tent) then I do take off my sandals, which do have a heel strap, and I would put them on the lawn before I enter the tent or a such attration that has the air in them.
Reply:I would say buy a cheap pair of flip flops but what i do is put in the seat compartment or some of them have lockers to put your things in if you don't mind walking bare footed
Reply:put them near the entrance of the ride or put them next to you.
