Why do college and high school girls wear flip flops?

I've noticed that at all the colleges and high schools I've been to, almost all of the girls wear flip flops in any kind of weather, and almost none of the guys do. I have even seen girls wear them when its purin rain outside! Why is this?

Reply:I'm European and about 20 years ago, back in the old country we wore flip flops rain or shine. I f you look around you all of todays and yesterdays fashions generate from the European trends.

Reply:In my high school, nobody really wore flip flops. But in college, flip flops is what a lot of people wear. I think flip flops are fashionable and it's easy to slip in when you're in a hurry.

Reply:ugh because we can and also middle schoolers and elementary and kindergartin and preschoolers can 2 ok so buz off and go get ur own!

Reply:they are comfy, easy 2 slip on, and super stylish. They are the perfered shoe by many teenagers in the US.
Reply:If you go inside an Abercrombie store that is part of the dress code, flip-flops....even the dudes wear sandals there all year round.
Reply:I just love wearing flip flops they are easy to put on and take off especially since I am always late for classes, they are lightweight, cute and inexpensive. When it rains I just deal with it I hardly ever wear shoes unless I have a class presentation to make. I am from the Caribbean so its a lot different we don't have different seasons its just always summer:):)

but seriously, i dont really know why girls wear flipflops so often. like i'll wear them in the summer, but even then not every day. i guess its just because theyre easy to put on/take off and theyre comfy.
Reply:Because they are cute, comfortable and easy to match with almost anything you have. I live in Florida and I know first hand even if it rains most people wear flip flops. I think it's just the convenience of having them slip on and off.
